Step into holiday mode with our three favourite sustainable sandal brands. Whatever your style tribe, from classic to minimalist, we have a pair of summer flats to fit the bill.
MOHINDERS
Our woven leather Mohinders City Slippers are artisan-made footwear at its finest. They blend heirloom master shoemaking techniques from India with the spirit of Californian cool, to result in summer shoes which simply improve with age.
WHY I LOVE THEM: These woven leather mules are my absolute favourite summer shoes. They take a few days to wear-in (I wore mine at home with socks for a few days) but once the buffalo leather softens and moulds to your feet you're rewarded with the most comfortable shoes. They are so easy to wear; you can slide them on quickly when you're running out of the door and kick them off when you return. I also wear mine as house shoes when padding around my kitchen and garden.
OF ORIGIN
These on-trend rope espadrille sandals, are new to The Small Home this season. We love the chunkiness of the hemp rope designs. These natural shoes are biodegradable and vegan, making them a great sustainable footwear option for everyday wear.
WHY I LOVE THEM: I love the laid-back and bohemian style of these Ibizan espadrilles. I've worn my Balears Sandals loads, they look effortlessly cool with slouchy jeans and white shirt. They have a wide fit making them incredibly comfortable in the summer heat.
SHANGIES
Shangies sandals boast brightly-coloured woven straps and a natural jute footbed to keep feet fresh and cool. Lightweight and hand-washable, these easy sandals make a practical summer choice.
WHY I LOVE THEM: My children and I all wear the newest Shangies sandals with the velcro straps. They are super lightweight and immediately comfortable. You can hand-wash them, meaning that you don't need to be too precious about when you wear them. We've worn ours on the beach and they've even had a little dip in the sea! I love how simple, stylish and versatile these shoes are.
