Handwoven Guatemalan Leather Belt – Café au Lait

£79.00

A pared-back take on the traditional Guatemalan polo belt - handwoven in soft, neutral tones rather than the usual bright multi-colours. The café au lait base is detailed with diamond motifs in toffee, chalk, ochre and coral, finished with tan leather and antique brass. Easy to wear with jeans, a summer dress, or layered over a jacket or gilet.

Detail
  • Handwoven cotton strap with full-grain leather trim
  • Antique brass buckle and eyelets
  • Width: 4cm (1.5")
  • Finding your size: Measure one of your existing belts from the base of the buckle (not the tip) to the hole you wear - this is the waist size to order.

I love wearing mine with my favourite jeans or over a summer cotton dress, but it looks particularly lovely paired with my cream or Toasted Almond Merino Gilet - the tones sit so beautifully together. A simple way to bring a touch of colour, texture and quiet detail to an everyday outfit.

Each belt is handmade in the highlands of Guatemala. The leather is cut and stitched by Mayan artisans - traditionally the men - while the cotton strap is woven by the women on a backstrap loom, a skill passed down through generations. Every piece is a small celebration of independent craftsmanship.

As each belt is handwoven, the diamond patterns and colour placement will vary slightly from belt to belt - part of the beauty of a piece made entirely by hand.

Dimensions/Fit

Our handwoven Guatemalan leather belts look beautiful threaded through jeans or cinched at the waist over a dress.

The size recommendations below assume the belt is being worn with jeans at the top of the hip. If you're planning to wear it at the waist over a lightweight dress, size down.
