Cosiness Incoming | The Season To Nest

Cosiness Incoming | The Season To Nest

As winter sets in, we naturally retreat indoors to seek the warmth and comfort of our homes. The shorter days and colder nights draw us into hibernation mode, inviting us to create spaces that offer both physical and emotional warmth - a sanctuary from the blustery weather outside.

Personally, I find that winter is the perfect time to indulge in one of my favourite pastimes - pottering around at home. There's something truly magical about nesting indoors when it’s cold and stormy outside. Nothing’s more soul-soothing than slipping into your favourite slippers, wrapping yourself in soft layers, and cosying up with a hot mug of tea.

Here are some of my go-to winter nesting tips to create a home so cosy, you’ll never want to leave.

Cosy Slippers Under the Radiator

The first step to creating a winter haven is ensuring your feet are always warm. My favourite ritual involves slipping into my well-loved sheepskin slippers after a day spent braving the cold. For an extra touch of comfort, I leave my sheepskin slippers under the radiator by the front door. There’s nothing quite like sinking your frozen toes into warm slippers - one of life’s simplest yet most satisfying pleasures.

Cashmere Bed Socks

Cold feet at night can make it nearly impossible to fall asleep. To combat this, I rely on cashmere bed socks. Soft, breathable, and incredibly warm, they guarantee a cosy night’s sleep and are worth every penny when you wake up well-rested and warm!

Sheepskin Hot Water Bottles

Sheepskin Hot water bottles are a winter essential in my home. Whether I’m keeping my children warm after a chilly sports game or staying cosy at my desk during the workday, these little warmth machines are invaluable. At night, I tuck a sheepskin hot water bottle into my bed for that extra layer of comfort.

Sheepskin Rugs… everywhere

One of my top tips for winter nesting is layering your space with sheepskin rugs. These versatile pieces add warmth and softness to any corner of your home. Drape them over armchairs, place them by your bed, use sheepskin seat pads at your kitchen table or even on your office chair. Sheepskin rugs brings a tactile sense of luxury, and when it’s cold out, the more layers, the better!

Beeswax Candles

The soft, warm glow of beeswax candles is unbeatable for making a space feel warm and inviting. I love the natural, earthy scent of beeswax candles, which adds to the sensory experience with just a hint of honey. Lighting candles becomes part of a calming ritual: the strike of the match, the flicker of the flame, and the slow, peaceful burn.

Fingerless Gloves for Working from Home

For those who work from home, staying warm without cranking up the heat can be a challenge. My secret weapon? Fingerless gloves. Our wrist warmers are perfect for tapping away on your computer while keeping your hands and wrists snug. They’re practical and cosy – perfect for getting through those chilly workdays.

Hot Drinks in the Perfect Mug

Lastly, no cosy home is complete without a steady flow of hot drinks. Whether it’s tea, coffee, or cocoa, I like to enjoy mine in a ‘just-right’ mug - one that’s big enough to wrap my hands around for that added warmth. Our Brickett Davda Mug is just that for me!

So, as winter settles in, embrace the art of nesting. Surround yourself with warmth, softness, and a little luxury, and you’ll find that the season becomes a time of comfort and tranquillity, no matter how cold it gets outside.
