There’s something grounding about candlelight. The soft glow, the slower pace it brings, the way it changes the mood of a room.
Our hand dipped taper candles are designed with this in mind — simple, tactile pieces that bring warmth and depth to everyday moments, whether that’s a midweek supper or a more considered evening at home.
Inspired by rich, warm tones of deep red and burgundy, these candles sit comfortably in both modern and traditional interiors, adding depth without feeling overstated.
Hand Dipped Dinner Candles in Rich Burgundy Tones
Our hand dipped dinner candles are British made and crafted using traditional candle-making methods. Each candle is dipped repeatedly into molten wax, allowing it to cool slowly between dips until the perfect form is achieved.
The result is a beautifully tactile candle with soft curves and a smooth finish — as lovely unlit as it is flickering on the table. The deep, velvety tone takes inspiration from Rouge Noir, offering a richer alternative to classic ivory taper candles.
Designed to sit neatly in our brass candle holders, these dinner candles bring height and softness to a table setting, whether used daily or saved for slower evenings.
The Craft Behind Hand Dipped Candles
Hand dipping is a slow, skilled process that has remained largely unchanged for generations. Using a simple metal carousel threaded with cotton wick, each candle is dipped, cooled, measured, and dipped again by hand.
Only basic workshop tools are used — scissors, tape measures, wooden spoons — allowing the candles to develop their natural shape over time. It’s traditional candle making at its best, producing artisan candles that feel honest, balanced, and quietly beautiful.
Handmade Brass Candle Holders
Alongside the candles, we’ve introduced a new range of handmade brass candle holders, designed specifically to complement our dinner candles.
Available in tall, medium and short, these brass candlesticks have a simple, timeless form with a warm brushed finish. Their weight and balance make them practical as well as decorative, and their understated design means they’ll be used year after year.
Grouped together or styled individually, they bring structure and warmth to a dining table, mantelpiece or shelf.
Styling with Giant and Stumpy Candles
Alongside our dinner candles, we also love styling with our giant stubby candles and pairs of smaller stumpy candles, arranged on our small brass trays.
The variation in height and width creates a softer, more organic look. Wider candles burn with a slow, steady flame, while smaller stumpy candles add balance when placed side by side. Together, they create relaxed groupings that feel natural rather than styled.
Our brass trays anchor these arrangements, catching wax gently and giving the candles a sense of intention — perfect for a dining table, sideboard or fireplace.
Candlelight, Ritual and the Table
As February evenings linger and Valentine’s Day approaches, candlelight feels especially welcome. A softly set table, a slower supper, or simply lighting a candle at the end of the day — these small rituals have a way of shifting the mood.
These hand dipped candles bring warmth and depth without feeling overly decorative. Designed to become part of everyday life rather than something saved for special moments.
Because the most loved pieces in the home are the ones we reach for often and it's the quiet everyday moments, that shape how we feel.
