Our new candle range is inspired by 2025’s key colour palettes—deep brown, rich red, and burgundy.
Taking inspiration from Chanel’s iconic Rouge Noir, these British-made, hand-dipped candles bring a warm, opulent glow to any setting. Their deep, velvety blend of dark brown and burgundy adds richness and drama to a dining table, making them a striking addition to both modern and traditional interiors.
This beautiful shade has been created exclusively for The Small Home by an old English candle workshop. I challenged Rory, my friendly chandler, to craft a candle as close as possible to Rouge Noir’s deep, sophisticated hue—and he delivered beautifully.
The Beauty of Hand-Dipped Candles
The process of making these candles is a slow, skilled craft. A circular metal carousel, threaded with braided cotton wick, is hand-dipped repeatedly into molten wax, allowing the candles to cool between each dip. They are measured throughout the process until they reach the perfect dimensions.
This traditional hand-dipped method remains unchanged over generations, using only simple workshop tools—scissors, a tape measure, wooden spoons, and strainers. The result is a beautifully tactile candle, smooth to the touch, with soft, natural curves that are just as stunning unlit as they are flickering on a table.
Setting the Mood
These rich, almost velvety candles bring an elegant, moody warmth to any space. Place them in our simple stoneware holders for a minimal, contemporary look.
The ritual of lighting candles is something I love—it instantly transforms the ambiance of a room. There’s nothing more relaxing than
the soft flicker of candlelight.
