For Day 2 of our 5 Gilets Styled 5 Ways series, we’re styling our Bitter Chocolate Merino Gilet — a personal favourite of mine. This is a smart-casual look that works for a work meeting and then a few evening drinks.
Chocolate brown is a key colour this season — it’s warm, flattering on most skin tones and so easy to wear.
Watch the video below to see how stylist @vixwebbstyling pairs the Bitter Chocolate gilet with a soft blush-pink palette for a look that feels both feminine and refined.
Our Bitter Chocolate Merino Gilet is a slightly slimmer fit in comparison to our other gilets and is unlined, making it ideal for layering under blazers and coats.
Vix layers the gilet over a delicate lace blouse in soft ecru and a checked brown blazer (both from Zara), giving the outfit a slightly dressier feel (while still staying cosy and warm in your gilet). It’s polished but still relaxed — the kind of look that transitions beautifully from day to evening without any effort.
The Lace Top is unfortunately sold out but here is a Zara & Free People alternative.
Here is also a great Zara alternative to the Brown Blazer.
These wide-leg, high-waisted pink jeans are just fabulous! They’re from French brand Stella Forest; I couldn’t find anything here in the UK that felt as stylish. Email me if you’d like sizing advice.
She adds our pink organic cotton block-print bandana scarf, tied simply at the neck, and chocolate-brown leather accessories to pull everything together. She bought this Miu Miu bag preloved from a small local boutique, but there are plenty of chocolate leather totes available at the moment — I love this Massimo Dutti one; it’s big enough for a small laptop and notebook.
This mix of tones and textures — lace, wool, check and leather — feels interesting and refined without being fussy. It has a touch of French chic: polished but not overdone.
Check-in tomorrow at 7pm for Day 3 of 5 Gilets Styled 5 Ways to see how @vixwebbstyling layers our Zip Gilet for a relaxed yoga morning.
